Safer gambling tools
UK-licensed operators must provide controls that help you cap spend and time. GamStop adds a cross-site exclusion layer when you need a longer break.
GamStop self-exclusion
GamStop is a free service funded by the industry and overseen in line with UK regulatory expectations. Register at gamstop.co.uk with your name, date of birth, email and postcode. Choose six months, one year or five years — participating operators must block matching accounts within a set period.
GamStop is not a password reset for a single site. It is a deliberate barrier across multiple brands. You cannot reverse an active exclusion early; plan accordingly.
Per-operator controls
Every site on our list must offer tools inside the account area:
- Deposit limits — daily, weekly or monthly caps on how much you can add
- Loss limits — where offered, stops play after a set net loss in a period
- Session time limits — automatic log-out after a chosen duration
- Reality checks — interval pop-ups showing elapsed time and position
- Time-outs — short cooling-off periods from 24 hours to several weeks on one operator
- Self-exclusion — longer single-site blocks without affecting other brands
Setting limits as a newcomer
Decide a monthly entertainment budget before your first deposit and enter it as a deposit limit immediately after verification. Limits often have a cooling-off period before increases take effect — decreases usually apply straight away.
When to seek help
If you are gambling to recover losses, hiding activity or feeling unable to stop, contact GamCare or BeGambleAware. These services are confidential and separate from operators.
